Dr. Nabin Bahadur Basnet is a Senior Consultant Nephrologist and one of Nepal's foremost experts in interventional nephrology. He completed his MBBS from Tribhuvan University and pursued specialized postgraduate training in nephrology at Hiroshima University in Japan. He further enhanced his interventional skills through a dedicated fellowship in interventional nephrology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, alongside specialized training through the International Society of Nephrology. Since 2011, Dr. Basnet has been practicing nephrology in Nepal, accumulating extensive experience in diagnosing and treating kidney conditions including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, glomerulonephritis, and end-stage renal disease. In recognition of his academic and clinical achievements, he was honored with the Nepal Bidhya Bhusan Award in 2011. As one of Nepal's leading interventional nephrologists, Dr. Basnet specializes in the creation and maintenance of hemodialysis vascular access, management of peritoneal dialysis, endovascular interventions, and the use of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) in nephrology practice. His clinical research has been presented at international conferences and published in both national and international medical journals. Dr. Basnet also serves as Executive Director and the permanent Nepal representative for the AVATAR Foundation — an international organization focused on vascular access and interventional nephrology. He is a key board member of the Health Care Foundation Nepal (HECAF-Nepal) and has led numerous specialized workshops through the Nepal Society of Nephrology and the Vascular Society of Nepal, strengthening nephrology expertise across the country.
